Stephen A. Hilger

Commercial Litigation and Construction Law Attorney

Kimberly Genther, Paralegal

Steve Hilger is a founding member of Hilger Hammond, PC. For over 40 years, Steve has guided complex commercial business transactions and litigation, focusing on construction law. His cases range from simple construction issues to complex commercial, municipal, and industrial projects encompassing claims and issues in the tens of millions of dollars.

Steve has tried many cases in multiple state and federal courts. He has appeared in several state courts of appeal, the Michigan Supreme Court, United States District Courts, United States District Courts of Appeal, the United States Supreme Court on cert, and multiple arbitration tribunals across the country.

Steve is also involved in extensive contract preparation and review. He routinely engages in extensive negotiation of transactions and agreements and pre- and post-litigation mediation. The remainder of Steve’s practice involves in-depth participation in and making business decisions and strategy recommendations, assisting in regulatory compliance, and promoting and developing best practices.

Before co-founding Hilger Hammond in 2009, Steve was a shareholder and attorney for Rhoades McKee for 17 years and a shareholder and associate of Gray, Harris & Robinson, P.A., for almost ten years.

When not litigating or arbitrating, you’ll find Steve sailing, practicing archery, wielding his photography skills, or playing guitar in his band.

High-quality legal work is the confluence of a superior understanding of the law and issues relating to your particular field, the timely performance of services, a clear and cogent understanding of the client’s needs and expectations, the ability to clearly and effectively communicate coupled with the ability to deliver the advice and serve the client’s needs through the development of a long-term professional relationship.”
